Food Tour through Coolidge Corner

This past weekend, as part of a belated birthday gift, I took my (FAVORITE) brother on a mini food tour through Coolidge Corner.  The area is known for it’s great Jewish delis, bakeries, and delicious Middle Eastern flavors. While we’ve both been to area many times, there were a few famous spots that neither of us had tried, and I personally wanted to take a trip to these places before I move out West.

First stop was Rami’s, which is known for it’s DELICIOUS falafel.

We ordered the falafel and hummus plate.  The pita (not featured here because we devoured it before I could even take a picture) was hot and fresh out of the oven. The falafel was amazing – super crispy and full of flavor. YUM.

Next stop was Zaftig’s, where we ordered INSANE banana stuffed challah french toast with bourbon-vanilla batter and an egg scramble with turkey hash, spinach, mushrooms and onions.

Both were delicious, but the challah french toast was by far my favorite taste of the day. I mean c’mon look at that baby!

We easily could have gone down the classic matzoh ball soup route, but we know our mom makes the best – so it only would have been a disappointment 😉

Last stop was Kupel’s bakery. By that point we were both pretty stuffed, so we brought back treats for Mom, Dad, and my soon-to-be sister-in-law 🙂

Hard to decide, but we went with a big ‘ol cinnamon bun, apple turnover, and a cupcake. You can never go wrong with too many treats.

I wish I could eat like that everyday!
