Mango Turmeric Ginger Smoothie

I love making smoothies on days that I feel like I need an extra boost of fruits and veggies. They pack so many nutrients in just one glass, and they’re an easy way to sneak in otherwise bland or “healthy” tasting ingredients like leafy greens, and in this case, turmeric. If you’re looking to reset your body (maybe after a big night out or indulgent vacation), try this Mango Turmeric Ginger Smoothie. It’s naturally sweet, but also contains healthy detoxifying ingredients like turmeric and ginger that will help you start your day on the right foot.

The ingredients in this smoothie are very simple, and the recipe is naturally vegan and refined sugar-free. All you need are an orange (or clementines), fresh mango, fresh ginger, ground turmeric, ground cardamom, and almond milk.

You may find it odd to add turmeric to your smoothie, but this powerful spice is very good for you. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric and it has very strong anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric has proven to aid in detoxing the liver and protecting the brain from Alzheimer’s disease. It has a bitter taste on its own, but when paired with the right ingredients you can barely taste it.

I like to drink this Mango Turmeric Ginger Smoothie in the morning because I feel like it puts me in a healthy mindset and encourages me to eat well throughout the day. Pro tip: Drink your smoothie with a colorful straw, like I do, and pretend you’re somewhere tropical (at least until spring decides to show up around here!) ;-).

I love all the bright orange-y colors! I’m forever injured, so I need all the anti-inflammatory stuff I can get.

Mango is one of my very FAVORITE smoothie ingredients! Love the idea of adding turmeric – I’m always looking for more ways to incorporate that into my daily meals. Can’t wait to try!
